SHANIA WINTER
Shania is completing a BA in Criminology and Sociolegal Studies, with double minors in Sociology and Spanish. Motivated to understand how power, justice, and governance intersect at local and global levels, her research investigates how legal systems and political institutions shape social outcomes, particularly around inequality, state accountability, and human rights. She is especially interested in how policy responses to conflict, displacement, and social unrest illuminate deeper questions of power and responsibility in international relations.
Beyond her research, Shania has worked in advocacy, editorial, and policy-adjacent roles, where she has cultivated a strong commitment to critical inquiry and evidence-based dialogue. She views her work as part of a broader effort to bridge academic research with real-world policymaking, helping ensure that conversations about justice, law, and governance remain inclusive and grounded in lived experience.
